About Slane Distillery
What goes better with whiskey than rock and roll? If you are a fan of both, this distillery has your vibe. In 1981, the grounds of Slane Castle were alive with the first of many concerts that would grace the banks of the River Boyne. The brainchild of Slane Castle’s proprietor Lord Henry Mountcharles (known in Ireland as “The Rock and Roll Aristocrat”), the concerts led to the creation of a sourced spirit called Slane Castle Irish Whiskey. When the source of that whiskey dried up, the ultimate dream of opening their own distillery came true. With the help of Kentucky’s Brown-Forman Company, a worldwide brand developed and a distillery was built out of the historic horse stables..
There are several ways to experience Slane Distillery. The Flavor of Slane Tour features a walk through the distillery, its history, processes, a tasting of two Slane expressions, and a chocolate pairing. If you have the time, the Amplified Tour takes you deeper and provides a highly recommended deconstructed tasting of the elements that make up Slane’s flagship blend. They also have cocktail- and coffee-making classes available.
