Whiskey Lore Blog
As of November 1, 2018, a new life began for me. It was time to shed the busy work and go out and do what I've always wanted to do - travel. In this podcast, I reached out to other travelers to dig into strategies for living a travel lifestyle and shared my own experiences. Ultimately this travel led to my interest in whiskey destinations. Here how it all began. I met some fascinating people along the away. Enjoy their stories. As for future episodes? Maybe I'll pick it up again someday, but I found the focus of my travel, great craft distilleries and whiskey history. Cheers to taking a bold step and finding your passion. -- Drew

A couple years back, I stopped in Old Tennessee Distillery off of I-40 and did a tasting of their moonshines. While I was there, I took a picture of some bottles of moonshine and rum. When I went back to read the information along side the Cal Johnson Rum, I became curious and wanted to know more about him. I didn't realize the impact he was going to have on me. Here's the story and a tasting.
Recently an article came to my attention that wasn't very flattering when it came to American Single Malt (link below). It got me thinking, what is the difference between American Single Malt vs Scotch Single Malt and are the differences big enough to overcome the perceived weaknesses mentioned in the article? Also, what of American Straight Malt Whiskey? One of my favorite whiskies just changed from ASM to American Straight Malt. What does that signify?
Time to dive into some modern Chattanooga 111 Straight Bourbon Whiskey and think back to an interview I did with Tim Piersant, the founder, where we talked about Chattanooga's distilling history. I'm going to shed some light on what Chattanooga was really known for and do a tasting.

My personal ranking of all 25 EON and Kevin McClory's James Bond film, with a whisky paired with each.
