Drew Hannush Bio
Author, Whiskey Researcher, and Connector

Drew Hannush is an author and whiskey researcher dedicated to fostering connections between distilleries and whiskey travelers. Through field research, travel, and carefully documented historical work, he helps distilleries be understood and guides enthusiasts toward meaningful, well-matched distillery experiences.
After two decades building and leading Hannush Web Design, Drew brought his entrepreneurial experience into the whiskey world, founding Travel Fuels Life, LLC in 2018. What began as a broader exploration of travel quickly evolved into a focused pursuit of whiskey history and distillery culture following an intensive Kentucky and Tennessee distillery tour that sparked deeper questions about the stories being told across the industry.
That curiosity became Whiskey Lore® — a platform built on clarity, research, and real-world exploration rather than ratings or marketing claims.
Drew has now visited more than 400 distilleries worldwide, studying how history, place, and people shape each one’s identity.
His work includes:
- Whiskey Lore’s Travel Guide to Experiencing American Whiskey: 2026 Edition, connecting enthusiasts to more than 1,000 distilleries across the United States
- Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon (Second Edition) and Experiencing Irish Whiskey, regional travel guides grounded in history and distillery experience
- Whiskey Lore: Volume One, examining 24 widely held whiskey myths through documented research
- The Lost History of Tennessee Whiskey, the first in-depth exploration of Tennessee’s 250-year distilling legacy
- Through the Whiskey Lore® Podcast, Drew introduces distilleries to a global audience through the Whiskey Flights series while exploring the historical and cultural context that shapes whiskey history via his storytelling episodes and interviews.
In addition to his books and podcast, Drew fosters visibility and collaboration across the industry through initiatives such as the Fan Favorite Distillery Pagoda Awards (Instagram Stories) and the Pay It Forward movement, encouraging shared momentum within the whiskey community.
Whether writing, speaking, or conducting research, Drew’s work remains centered on increasing clarity and visibility so distilleries and whiskey travelers can discover one another through understanding.
