About Midleton Distillery
Since the 1970s, the brand that most likely came to mind for Irish whiskey was Jameson. The entire industry owes a debt of gratitude to this distillery, the brand’s home, and its owners Pernod-Ricard for keeping the spirit of Irish whiskey alive through some difficult times. Unsurprisingly, given the impact the Jameson brand has had on Irish distilling, this is a very popular tourist destination. Add to that heritage the rebirth of Redbreast, the growth of the Spots, and the birth of the Method and Madness series and the legend continues to grow.
There are several options available if you want to visit the distillery. You can take the standard tour and enjoy a tipple upon its completion; you can dig deeper into the inner workings of distillation and the art of the cooper with a behind-the-scenes tour; or you can extend your tasting experience as your guide takes you through top-notch premium whiskeys. All tours go through the historic Old Midleton Distillery and give you a view of the micro-distillery where Method and Madness was born. Unfortunately, the larger modern distillery is not part of the journey.
