About Crolly (Croithlí) Distillery
Opened in 2022 in a former carpet and doll factory, the Crolly Distillery turns back the clock to celebrate the history of its building, and the people and culture of the area. The hills of the surrounding countryside echo with a long legacy of illegal poitín distillation as the last legal distillery in this area shut its doors over 180 years ago. In 2018, three friends from Crolly decided it was time to bring legal distilling back to the region.
The locals have been raving about the care and attention to detail being put into this project. Though the building has been upgraded, it has retained much of its original character; the distillery reveals its stories through expert tour guides, visuals, and with a selection of local food in the cafe. Locals will feel right at home, while visitors with ancestry in the area will gain a deeper appreciation of their roots.
