About Rademon Estate Distillery
If you ask around, you might hear most people refer to Shortcross Gin, rather than whiskey. What they may not realize is David and Fiona Boyd-Armstrong’s original passion was to bring craft whiskey distilling back to Northern Ireland. Owners of a historic 500-acre estate and inspired by a book on the lost distilleries of Ireland, the couple traveled the world, learning about the drinks industry, and getting a sense of their homeland’s place in it. After learning the art of distilling, they built a distillery and soon their gin took off. Then David dived into creating single malts and his unique malted rye and malted barley mash bill. Always open to experimentation, he also distills a single pot whiskey and has a peated whiskey in the works as well.
The tour weaves its way inside and outside the distillery. There is a nice balance of history, David and Fiona’s journey to building the distillery, a review of the whiskey-making process, and a trip to the warehouse.
As seen in "Experiencing Irish Whiskey."
